About: This project consists of a 2 level classroom building located at Albany Hills State School in Brisbane. The building is founded on engineered fill designed by Odyssey Consulting Group. The building foundations consist of a high level raft compared to a piled solution originally proposed by the geotechnical engineer and another consultant. Odyssey Consulting Engineers challenged this structural engineering foundation scheme allowing the piles to be deleted and a more cost effective foundation system to be adopted.

The suspended floor structure was designed utilising long spanning reinforced beam and slab structures, providing large column free spaces allowing for flexibility of the classroom areas. Concrete masonry loadbearing walls were adopted for the design of vertical elements, as these were found to be the most economical whilst minimising vertical structure in these areas.
